The government of Belize has given the green light for Kosovo Special Forces to train in Belize. The forces will train in Belize with the British Military. Belize has become a favourite place for foreign military training due to the variety of rugged terrain that includes rainforest jungle, mountainous areas, riverine and sea.

An official press release says that following a request for collaboration between the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the British Army Training Support Unit (BATSUB), the Cabinet of Belize has granted its approval for joint training exercises.

In light of the approval, the Cabinet has tasked the Ministry of Defence and Border Security with developing a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). The SOFA will outline the legal framework and logistical arrangements governing the presence and activities of the Kosovo Security Force personnel during the joint training exercises.

A side benefit for foreign military undergoing training in Belize, are the world-class tourism attractions of the country, especially SCUBA diving and rest and recreation on its many islands and luxury resorts. The Brits have a long history training their own soldiers in Belize as they were once the colonial power and still retain a presence in the country.
