Twenty five year old Ashley Lightburn won the Miss Universe Belize 2022-2023 pageant last night at the Bliss Centre For The Performing Arts in Belize City and will represent Belize in December at the international beauty contest. Hailing from Belize City Ashley is a project manager at a local bank and adjunct lecturer of Mathematics at the University of Belize
The first runner up is 27 year old Alina Scott a PhD Candidate and Littlefield Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. Scott is originally from the Cayo District and has represented Belize at international volleyball competitions..
Second runner up place went to Samantha Singh a chef and writer based in Placencia.
A total of 6 delegates from Belize City, Belmopan, Orange Walk, Placencia, San Ignacio, and Spanish Lookout competed in segments of Swimsuit, Evening Gown, and a few rounds of Question and Answer. The event was broadcast on national television.
