A joint security operation on Friday, January 2, 2026, led to the removal of a confirmed MS-13 gang member from Belize.
Officers attached to GI3 San Ignacio, working alongside Immigration officials, escorted 45-year-old Marvin Edgardo Sandoval, also known as “Cirillo,” to Belize’s western border. Sandoval, a Salvadoran national, was then handed over to Guatemalan authorities from the Division of Police Information, Subdirectorate General of Criminal Investigation (DIP-SGIC).
Authorities confirmed that Sandoval is a known member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang. Following the handover, Guatemalan officials are expected to transport him to the Salvadoran border, where he will be turned over to Salvadoran authorities.
Police reported that the transfer was carried out without incident. Sandoval had previously been issued an Order to Leave Belize and was officially classified as a prohibited immigrant, requiring his immediate removal from the country.
