The Belize Tourism Board’s foreign marketing firms have gone into overdrive over the Christmas and launched a publicity campaign aimed at luring tourists to Belize for the Maya End Of The World Event. The message has been repackaged to be an event celebrating a “transition” in the Maya Calendar. The Belize Tourism Board’s latest branding is ” Where Will You Be When The World Begins Anew Belize Maya 2012″. A cynic would say that a more appropriate if snarky slogan would be, What Will Be The Situation Of The Maya When Their Calendar Resets In 2012?

Belize In Best Animal Tourism Spots In Latin America
Belize is a tiny country with a relatively big manatee population–now that people have (mostly) stopped eating them.
The United Nations Environment Program says that the mangroves, swamps and rivers make this an ideal habitat.
Manatees help support a healthy eco tourism industry here, with many tours specifically to see the sea cows. One of the top destinations to spot Manatees is in the southern lagoon. Belize was included in the list by the Global Animal Foundation according to news reports monitored in Belize today.

Belize Summer Break
Summer is upon us, as well as the rainy season, and the graduate season. At this time many Belizeans take time to flee to the beaches, watering holes and swimming pools to chill out. What better way to do it than with a bevy of Belize girls ready for the beach?
We hope a picture is worth a thousand words.
At right a choice picture of Belize girls having fun on the water front not far from Belize city.
Popular swim spots in Belize include the Raddison, the Princess and Old Belize. All these facilities offer a safe environment, private security, parking and well-maintained grounds. For those wishing to venture further afield, Placencia, El Cayo and Corozal have much to offer for those wishing to get the perfect suntan.
Belize Reports Modest Gains In Tourism Sector
The government controlled Belize Tourism Board is claiming incremental improvements in the tourism industry following a downward slide over the past 12 months. The following is the text of the BTB’s first quarterly report for 2011:
Belize’s tourism sector is seeing positive indications that industry recovery is finally underway. The overnight sector, which witnessed the largest overall growth in January, seems to be trending with global predictions for 2011 by the United World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). As for the cruise sector, early setbacks are attributed to external factors but increased ship calls are expected to commence in late 2011. The following is a full report on airline, overnight and cruise arrivals.
